About Bibi
Hi, I’m Bibi Peter. Artist, former tattoo artist and the person behind Studio Bibi.
Hi, I’m Bibi Peter. I’m 27 years old, born and raised in the Netherlands, and creativity has been part of my life for as long as I can remember.
I had my first drawing lesson when I was six, but honestly, it started even earlier than that. I definitely got my creative side from my dad. Growing up, we spent a lot of time drawing together, and creating things always felt very natural to me.
Before Studio Bibi, there was a completely different creative chapter in my life: tattooing.
I worked as a tattoo artist for five years and even had my own tattoo shop for a year and a half. Looking back, that period had a huge influence on the way I paint today. My tattoo work was all about depth, contrast and a dark feminine feeling. Those elements are still very much part of my style now, just translated onto a much bigger canvas.
Painting has always been a red thread throughout my life. A few years ago, I found my way back to it, starting mainly with murals. From there, I slowly moved towards creating more work on canvas, and that is where I truly found my passion again.
There is something about building a painting layer by layer that I absolutely love. Working with texture paste, metallic foil, deep rich colors and subtle shine makes every piece feel different depending on the light and the angle you look at it from. I love creating artwork that has presence, something that catches your eye from across the room but keeps revealing little details when you get closer.
Alongside my own collections, I also love creating custom pieces.
Turning someone’s memory, story or something personally meaningful into a piece of art is one of my favourite parts of what I do. Knowing that a painting can represent something completely unique to the person who owns it makes the whole process even more special.
Studio Bibi is really a combination of everything I have loved creatively throughout my life. Drawing, tattooing, painting, experimenting and constantly finding new ways to make a canvas stand out.
And I think that is exactly what I want my work to do.
Original Canvasses, made to stand out.
